What you will finish
The assessment will have your submitted grade, and you will know how to continue to the next ungraded student.
Before you start
- From your dashboard, open the class, choose Assignments, and open the assignment. Select the student label you are assessing.
- Finish reading the writing, reviewing corrections, and writing your Teacher feedback.
Screenshots use a fictional practice class. Your labels and AI suggestions may differ. Select a screenshot to enlarge it. Close it with the X in the top-right corner or press Escape.
Review the rubric scores
In the right-hand panel, find Rubric. Read each criterion’s score and comment beside the writing. Click a score box to change it if your judgement differs.
Check the rubric total. Teacher’s final grade is a separate field: changing a rubric score does not automatically enter your final mark.
Enter your final mark
Find Teacher’s final grade and enter your decision. Check the maximum shown beside the box. For an assignment out of 100, enter a number from 0 to 100.
The AI score is a suggestion for you to review. It does not decide the student’s official grade.
Leave the grade blank if you are not finished
Refine saves changes automatically. Writing and feedback without a teacher grade remain a draft. Once a teacher grade is saved, the assessment can show Graded, including after automatic saving.
If you are stopping before finishing your review, leave Teacher’s final grade blank and check the save status. On the mobile grading panel, you can also click Save draft.
Save and move to the next student
When the comment and grade are ready, click Submit grade & next student. Refine saves before moving to the next ungraded student.
Check the new label before pasting any writing. If a save error appears, keep the page open, click Retry when offered, and wait for saving to succeed.
Check the saved assessment
Click the label you just assessed in the student list on the left. You should see Graded, your final mark, and your Teacher feedback.
If you need to revise the mark, change it and click Update grade & next when shown. If you already downloaded feedback, download a new copy after saving the change.
Check your result
- The grade reflects your own review of the writing and rubric.
- Teacher's final grade uses the correct maximum.
- The assessment is saved and marked Graded.
- You checked the selected label before continuing.
If something looks different
The assessment is still a draft.
Check that you entered a teacher grade and completed the submit action successfully. Saving feedback or an AI suggestion alone does not establish your official grade.
Refine did not advance to the next student.
Look for a save or grade-validation message. Resolve it and use Retry where available. Keep the page open until the current work is saved.
The rubric total and my final grade differ.
The fields are separate. Review the criterion scores, the assignment maximum, and your final decision. Make any needed changes deliberately before submitting.
A useful habit
Return to a graded assessment after your first submission to confirm you understand the saved state.
Do not treat the advisory suggestion as a grade automatically assigned to the student.
Your next step
Download feedback as PDF or Word
Choose what students will receive, download the document, and check it before handing it back.
