What you will finish
Your Teacher feedback field will contain a reviewed comment tied to the student's writing and a manageable revision task.
Before you start
- From your dashboard, open the class, choose Assignments, and open the assignment. Select the correct student label.
- Read the original writing and review its corrections before writing your final comment.
Screenshots use a fictional practice class. Your labels and AI suggestions may differ. Select a screenshot to enlarge it. Close it with the X in the top-right corner or press Escape.
Look for a strength in the writing
Read the student’s paragraph. Identify one specific thing they did well, such as stating a clear opinion or responding to an opposing view.
If you want ideas, click AI-generated feedback in the right-hand panel. Check each suggestion against the actual text. You can write feedback yourself without using these suggestions.
Choose a useful next step
Choose a revision that fits this lesson. Keep the request small enough for the student to act on.
For the school-start-time paragraph, ask for a classroom example to develop the reasons. You could also ask the student to check the two verb forms.
Too broad: Improve your grammar. Clearer: Check “teenagers feels” and “I forget”. Which verb form belongs in each sentence?
Type your comment in Teacher feedback
Find Teacher feedback in the panel on the right. On a small screen, scroll below the writing to find it. Click inside the box and type your comment.
Use the example below for practice. For real work, describe what that student’s writing shows. You do not need to copy the full AI comment.
Your opinion is clear and you consider sports practice. Add one classroom example to support your reasons. Then check the verbs in “teenagers feels” and “I forget”.
Read the comment before saving the grade
Check that your comment matches the writing and your rubric decisions. Remove repeated advice and make sure the revision request is clear.
Keep the feedback about the work, not the student’s personality. Check that saving has completed before leaving. Then enter your final grade when your review is finished.
Save your grade and continueInclude your comment in the downloaded file
Click Export. Concise includes your comment automatically. If you choose Custom instead, tick Teacher Edits & Personalized Feedback.
Suggested Overall Feedback is a separate AI comment. Include it only if you have read it and want that extra section. Open the downloaded file and check that your own comment is present.
Check your result
- The comment identifies evidence from this text.
- The revision request is clear enough for the learner to act on.
- Your final comment is in Teacher feedback and saved.
- The exported feedback includes the teacher-edited comment you intended.
If something looks different
My comment is repetitive.
Adding several suggestions can repeat an idea. Edit Teacher feedback directly and combine the points into one clear revision request.
The AI comment is too advanced or too vague.
Rewrite it in language appropriate to the task. Replace broad advice with an example from the student's writing and an action the learner can take.
The exported document has two different comments.
Check whether both Suggested Overall Feedback and Teacher Edits & Personalized Feedback were selected. Use Custom to include only the sections you want, then export and inspect the file again.
A useful habit
Specific feedback can be short. A supported strength and a useful next step are often clearer than a long list of corrections.
